OVERVIEW

Welcome to the most sparsely populated country in the world! We offer you the best-planned Mongolian motorcycle tours in the gorgeous Altai Mountains. During this expedition, you will be able to enjoy the best sights of the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.

This is a fully guided package tour. The trail is 600- 700 km / 370-430 miles long and 95% is off-road. Every day we will cover around 100 km which usually takes 5-7 hours.  A local experienced team complete with backup vehicles and a mechanist guide will support us throughout the entirety of this true adventure.

All our tours are based on our previous eight years of expertise! You will have the opportunity to visit nomadic families and learn more about their ancient cultures.

Tour Info

Mongolians are known to be friendly and welcoming, so don’t hesitate to take photos! One of the best aspects about motorcycle tours in Mongolia is the freedom you feel. You will enjoy riding motorcycles in the remote Altai region of Mongolia

English-speaking tour guide introduces the ancient monuments and directs you to the finest vantage points. It’s time for leisure in the evening, when you may trek around or take a rest in your tent.

This is a wilderness expedition and there is no one around for miles. So, during the expedition, you will stay in a private tent. We are well equipped with camping and cooking equipment. The team has an expedition chef who prepares delicious meals three times a day. Lunch will be served in the form of a lunchbox

Alcohol is not included in the tour price, so it would be wise to bring some cash for that.

We will be riding 3-4 different models including dirt bike enduros and medium weight adventures. You can choose from Husqvarna FC 450, KTM 390 Adventure (2022), KTM 890 Adventure, and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 (2024). All bikes are based on routes in the Altai Mountains and have been selected by our experts. The characteristics of the bikes are similar, however the early bookers can choose their favorite motorbike from our list.
Our company owns all the bikes and are only used by our clients a few times a year. All bikes are in excellent condition.

As additional security, we require a bond of 500 USD in case your motorcycle is damaged during the trip. We will only use this money if the bike needs to be repaired. The balance will be refunded at the end of the trip.

Ride a great sample of Mongolia’s terrain; wide open high-speed steppe, rocky creek beds, many river crossings, and some tight mountain double tracks.  Another important aspect of this motorcycle holiday is that you must be a seasoned motorcyclist for at least a year and responsive to any accident or harm on the journey. Of course, our first concern is your safety, and we must make sure that you are physically fit for motorcycle riding activity.

We want you to relax and enjoy the landscape so we won’t rush and it is not a race. All you need to bring are things like fresh water, a snack, and a camera–lunch will be served through lunch boxes.

We ask that you bring your own unique clothing, such as a jacket, gloves, boots, and bodyguards. Because of their sanitary and fit requirements, we are unable to prepare them ahead of time.

However, if you’d prefer to rent anything like a helmet or gloves, that’s fine with us. Just inform us beforehand. Warm clothes (including thick jackets), dust masks, insect protection cream, sunscreen, and personal necessities are all necessary.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive in Bayan-Olgii

Welcome to the heart of Altai. Western Mongolia is well known for its magnificent Altai Mountains and is home to nomadic eagle hunters. Our local guides will meet you at the local Olgii airport. Here we go! Drive to the place of the eagle hunter. Please meet the nomadic eagle hunter and his family. During the trip, you have an opportunity to visit nomadic families and enjoy their hospitality.  All the motorbikes are here, so you can warming up for the trip in the evening. Enjoy the special traditional Bes Barmak dish. Stay overnight in a traditional yurt.

Day 2: Dayan Lake

Let the adventure begin. The first location is the southern part of the national park. We will head to Lake Dayan. Along the way, you need to pass one of the high passes of our province. There are also many other beautiful places, such as the Black Lake and the nomads’ summer place Kara-Tas. At the end of the journey, we will reach Lake Dayan. Camp in a beautiful place. You’ll love the view.

Day 3: Sirgaly, Khoton & Khurgan Lakes

From Dayan Lake, head west and reach Lakes Khoton and Khurgan. This region has two twin lakes and many nomads. Today we need to cross several rivers and mud. And there are a lot of ups and downs through rocky terrain. Enjoy riding a dirt bike.

Day 4: Shiveed Khairkhan or Sacred Mountain

Today we visited Mount Shiveet Khairkhan, also known as the Sacred Mountain. This mountain was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010. Here you can see ancient petroglyphs dating back to the Bronze Age.

Day 5: Altai Tavan Bogd Mountains

Today you have the opportunity to enjoy the best panoramic views of the national park. We will motorcycle along the White River and climb to the base camp. Enjoy the Altai Mountains, which include Mongolia’s highest peak and one of the largest glaciers in Central Asia. Camp by the Khukh Khutul.

Day 6: Leisure Day

We need a rest day in case of bad weather conditions or any unplanned inconveniences. So, if everything goes as we planned, we will have another great day on the motorbike.

Day 7: Back to Olgii

Today we are going straight to Olgii. This will take another 4-5 hours and once we are back in town you will be staying at a local hotel. We did it! Farewell dinner for the whole team.

Day 8: Fly back to Ulaanbaatar

End of the trip. Thank you for coming!

Frequently Asked Questions

What motorcycle is good for traveling?

There is no definitive answer to this question, as different riders have different preferences. Some may prefer a smaller bike for easier maneuverability, while others may prefer a larger bike for more power and stability. Ultimately, it is up to the rider to decide what motorcycle is best for their individual needs. However, some popular motorcycles for travel include the BMW R1200GS, the KTM 1190 Adventure, and the Honda Africa Twin.

Is it safe to travel by motorcycles?

Again, there is no definitive answer, as safety depends on a variety of factors, including the rider’s skill level, the road conditions, and the weather. That said, many riders find motorcycle travel to be safe and enjoyable, as long as they take the necessary precautions. Wearing proper safety gear, such as a helmet, gloves, and sturdy clothing, is always a good idea. Additionally, riders should be aware of their surroundings at all times and avoid taking unnecessary risks.

Can a motorcycle travel long distance?

Yes, motorcycles can travel long distances, although riders may need to make more frequent stops than if they were in a car or truck. This is because motorcycles are more susceptible to fatigue, and riders may need to take breaks more often to rest. Additionally, riders should plan their route in advance and make sure they have plenty of gas and other supplies, such as food and water.

How do i prepare for a motorcycle tour?

There are a few things to keep in mind when preparing for a motorcycle tour. First, you will need to make sure your bike is in good working condition. This means regular maintenance and tune-ups, as well as ensuring that all your safety gear is in good condition. Additionally, you will need to plan your route carefully, taking into account gas stops, lodging, and other necessary stops. Finally, it is always a good idea to pack light, as you will want to avoid overloading your bike.
