OVERVIEW
Welcome to the most sparsely populated country in the world! We offer you the best-planned Mongolian motorcycle tours in the gorgeous Altai Mountains. During this expedition, you will be able to enjoy the best sights of the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.
This is a fully guided package tour. The trail is 700- 800 km / 430-490 / miles long and 95% is off-road. Every day we will cover around 100 km which usually takes 5-7 hours. A local experienced team complete with backup vehicles and a mechanist guide will support us throughout the entirety of this true adventure.
All our tours are based on our previous eight years of expertise! You will have the opportunity to visit nomadic families and learn more about their ancient cultures.
Tour Info
Mongolians are known to be friendly and welcoming, so don’t hesitate to take photos! One of the best aspects about motorcycle tours in Mongolia is the freedom you feel. You will enjoy riding motorcycles in the remote Altai region of Mongolia
English-speaking tour guide introduces the ancient monuments and directs you to the finest vantage points. It’s time for leisure in the evening, when you may trek around or take a rest in your tent.
This is a wilderness expedition and there is no one around for miles. So, during the expedition, you will stay in a private tent. We are well equipped with camping and cooking equipment. The team has an expedition chef who prepares delicious meals three times a day. Lunch will be served in the form of a lunchbox
Alcohol is not included in the tour price, so it would be wise to bring some cash for that.
We will be riding 2-3 different models including dirt bike enduros and medium weight adventures. You can choose from Husqvarna FC 450, CF Moto 450MT (2025), and Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 (2024). All bikes are based on routes in the Altai Mountains and have been selected by our experts. The characteristics of the bikes are similar, however the early bookers can choose their favorite motorbike from our list.
Our company owns all the bikes and are only used by our clients a few times a year. All bikes are in excellent condition.
As additional security, we require a bond of 500 USD in case your motorcycle is damaged during the trip. We will only use this money if the bike needs to be repaired. The balance will be refunded at the end of the trip.
Ride a great sample of Mongolia’s terrain; wide open high-speed steppe, rocky creek beds, many river crossings, and some tight mountain double tracks. Another important aspect of this motorcycle holiday is that you must be a seasoned motorcyclist for at least a year and responsive to any accident or harm on the journey. Of course, our first concern is your safety, and we must make sure that you are physically fit for motorcycle riding activity.
We want you to relax and enjoy the landscape so we won’t rush and it is not a race. All you need to bring are things like fresh water, a snack, and a camera–lunch will be served through lunch boxes.
We ask that you bring your own unique clothing, such as a jacket, gloves, boots, and bodyguards. Because of their sanitary and fit requirements, we are unable to prepare them ahead of time.
However, if you’d prefer to rent anything like a helmet or gloves, that’s fine with us. Just inform us beforehand. Warm clothes (including thick jackets), dust masks, insect protection cream, sunscreen, and personal necessities are all necessary.

FAQ
When are the Mongolia Motorcycle Tour 2026 departures?
Two scheduled group departures run in 2026: June 4–13 and July 30 – August 8. Both windows align with mid-June to late-August, the most stable weather season for motorcycle riding in the Altai (mild temperatures, dry tracks, green steppe). Group size is capped at 12 riders per departure. Custom private departures for solo riders or small groups are available on adjacent dates with custom pricing.
How much does the Mongolia Motorcycle Tour cost?
The 10-day Mongolia Motorcycle Tour is priced at $3,600 per person for scheduled group departures (no per-person discount for larger groups — single flat rate). A refundable $500 bond is required at trip start as security against motorcycle damage; the bond is returned in full if the bike is undamaged. Deposit to confirm booking: $600 per person, balance due 60 days before departure. Cancellation fees: $400 if cancelled 60+ days before, $500 if 45+ days, $600 if less than a month.
What’s included in the tour price?
Included: motorcycle hire for the full 10 days, fuel, English-speaking lead guide, support 4×4 with driver carrying spare parts and luggage, all meals during the trip, accommodation (mix of tent + traditional yurt + 2 nights hotel in Ulaanbaatar), Altai Tavan Bogd National Park permits, group equipment. Excluded: international flights to Mongolia, domestic flight Ulaanbaatar ↔ Ölgii, alcohol, motorcycle damage bond ($500 refundable), travel and motorcycle insurance, optional tips for guide and support driver, personal riding gear.
What kind of motorcycle do you provide?
Tour motorcycles are dual-sport / adventure bikes selected for Altai mountain terrain — capable on tarmac, gravel, dirt tracks, and shallow river crossings. Specific models confirmed at booking depending on availability (commonly mid-displacement adventure bikes in the 250–650cc range). All bikes are mechanically prepared by our team before each departure with new tyres, brake pads, and full service. The support 4×4 carries spare parts, tools, and a mechanic.
Do I need a motorcycle licence and how experienced should I be?
Yes — a valid motorcycle licence from your home country is required. We recommend an International Driving Permit (IDP) with motorcycle endorsement to avoid roadside complications. Riding experience: this is not a beginner trip. You should be comfortable on dirt tracks, gravel, sand, and shallow river crossings — minimum recommended 2+ years of regular motorcycle riding including some off-road experience. Daily distance is 150–250 km on mixed surfaces. Riders without off-road experience should consider one of our self-drive 4×4 tours instead.
Where does the tour ride — what’s the route?
The route is based in western Mongolia, starting and ending in Ölgii (Bayan-Ölgii Province), and ranges across the Altai Mountains, Altai Tavan Bogd National Park buffer zone, alpine lakes, glacial valleys, and Kazakh nomadic herder regions. Highlights typically include the Khoton-Khurgan lake system, the Tsambagarav massif, traditional Kazakh family stays, and a road circuit around the foothills of the Five Saints (Tavan Bogd) range. The exact route flexes daily based on weather, group fitness, and local conditions.
Can I rent a motorcycle in Mongolia without joining a tour?
Yes — independent motorcycle rental is available in Ulaanbaatar from roughly $90/day depending on bike model and provider, and we can arrange rental-only (no guide, no support vehicle) at preferential rates for experienced riders who want to plan their own route. However, the Altai is remote — fuel, mechanical support, and emergency evacuation are far harder to arrange solo. For most travellers we recommend the guided tour for the first Mongolia ride and consider self-organised rentals for subsequent visits.
What should I bring for the Mongolia Motorcycle Tour?
Riding gear: armoured jacket and pants (or motocross pants + knee guards), full-face or modular helmet (we can supply if needed), riding gloves, motorcycle boots, base layers for cold mornings (Altai nights drop to 5°C even in July), waterproof shell. Personal kit: passport + IDP, riding sunglasses, SPF50 sunscreen, lip balm, headlamp + spare batteries, lightweight sleeping bag rated to 0°C (we provide camping gear and tent), basic toiletries, soft duffel bag (no rigid suitcases — they don’t fit in panniers). Full packing list emailed 30 days before departure.
