OVERVIEW

Welcome to Mongolia!

Discover Altai Travel offers you the best-planned biking tour in the Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. It is an all-included package tour with an experienced local support team.

Mongolia, a nation of rough roads, towering mountains, and enormous lakes, invites you to join a one-of-a-kind mountain biking excursion into one of the country’s most spectacular regions, along Mongolia’s highest mountain range, the Altai high Mountains.

Whether you’re an expert seeking difficult single treks or an inexperienced thrill seeker looking forward to seeing the country at your own pace, this route has everything.

Join our cycling vacation and you’ll get to visit regions of the country that may only be seen when cycled across on two wheels, as well as enjoy the best of both worlds—a fantastic cycling journey with a close encounter with nomadic people.

Tour Info

Expect a lot of hard-packed dirt tracks or trails strewn with rocks during this cycling trip. Although there isn’t much traffic, you should be on the lookout for boulders, potholes, and track divots. There are several river passages to consider, so anticipate getting your feet wet!

This is a good choice for the leisure cyclist who rides regularly and is comfortable with some moderately difficult ascents. Terrain may vary, possibly including sections of uneven or unpaved ground.

For individuals who are in good shape and like to go cycling during the weekend, these excursions are ideal. You might enjoy riding on flatter terrain, but you’re not fussy about tackling some hills, steep climbs, or changing surfaces (forest tracks, dirt roads etc.).

FAQ

Is bicycle touring fun?

Yes, it’s genuinely enjoyable. Bicycle touring is not only about fitness or training, but about experiencing the journey itself. It allows you to create lasting memories of the roads you travel and the places you visit, focusing on the experience rather than speed or performance.

Which countries are best for cycling?

Some of the most bicycle-friendly countries include the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Japan, France, and Norway. These countries are known for their well-developed cycling infrastructure and strong cycling culture.

What is the most bike-friendly country in the world?

The Netherlands is widely regarded as the most bike-friendly country. It has more than 35,000 kilometers of dedicated cycling paths and even more bicycles than people, making it a global leader in cycling infrastructure.

What is the most bike-friendly city in the world?

Copenhagen, Denmark, is consistently ranked as the most bicycle-friendly city in the world due to its excellent infrastructure, safety standards, and strong cycling culture.

What is the 75% rule in cycling?

The 75% rule suggests that at least 75% of your weekly cycling training should be done at a low intensity, typically in Zones 1–2. This approach helps build endurance, improves fat-burning efficiency, and reduces the risk of overtraining.

What are the disadvantages of touring bikes?

Touring bikes are generally heavier and larger than other types of bicycles. This makes them less maneuverable, especially in tight spaces or heavy traffic. They can also be more expensive, which may be a consideration for beginners.

Why do cyclists say “on your left”?

Cyclists say “on your left” to inform others that they are about to pass from the left side. This helps maintain safety and prevents unexpected collisions.

What did Albert Einstein say about riding a bike?

Albert Einstein once said, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

Where do most bicycle accidents occur?

Most bicycle accidents occur in urban areas. Studies show that over 80% of cyclist fatalities happen in cities, where traffic conditions are more complex.

Does bike gender matter?

Bike categories labeled as “men’s” or “women’s” are only general guidelines. The most important factors are fit, comfort, and intended use. Many riders choose bikes based on personal preference rather than labels.
